Server Mode
SliQ Invoicing can work with Local Files and in Server Mode. Working with Local Files is SliQ's default way of working and requires no special setup. Server Mode requires more setup but offers the advantage that multiple users from multiple PCs can raise and view invoices at the same time.
By default, SliQ Invoicing works with local company files, i.e. SliQ creates a company file on the hard drive of your computer to store all your invoices, customers etc.
For local files, when you add a company in SliQ, the company file will be named according to the business name you enter into the company wizard and will be stored in the folder Documents\SliQInvoicing6 on your computer.
The local file is then only really usable by you on your own PC.
You can copy the file to a shared folder on your network where the file can be opened by more than one PC running SliQ but only one person can open the file at a time.
For true multi-user access, allowing multiple users from multiple PCs to raise and view invoices at the same time, SliQ also has a client/ server mode.
When server mode is enabled, SliQ uses Microsoft's SQL Server database to store company data. The installation and setup of SQL Server is not handled by SliQ Invoicing, nor do we supply SQL Server. SliQ will work with your own installation of SQL Server or with Microsoft's free SQL Server Express.
