Moving Data To a Different PC
SliQ supports three ways of moving data to a different PC.
- Moving the entire set of invoices, quotes, customer and product data.
- Merging the customer data from one PC into a copy of SliQ on another PC.
- Merging the product data from one PC into a copy of SliQ on another PC.
Moving the Entire Data set to a Different PC
Transferring your data out of SliQ Invoicing and Quoting on PC to a copy installed on a different PC is very easy. All you have to do is follow these simple steps:-
1. Save a backup of your data on the first PC
On the first PC, save a backup of your current data by selecting the Setup tab in SliQ and then pressing the Save button in the toolbar.
2. Copy the backup file and your logo to the second PC
Copy the backup file created in step 1 to the second PC using, for example, a CD, floppy disk or USB flash drive.
3. Run SliQ and load the backup file copied from the first PC
If the SliQ Startup dialog appears, press the Restore from a Backup button (highlighted in red in the picture below).

Alternatively, if you have already created a company in SliQ 2 and the startup dialog does now appear, press the SliQ start button (highlighted in red below) and choose Company/ Restore Company.

When the Open File dialog appears, browse to the backup you saved from version 1 and press Open to import the data into a new company file.
4. Copy any custom templates to your new PC
If you are moving SliQ Invoicing Plus to a new PC you will also need to copy any custom templates you have edited.
To copy any custom templates you have edited, transfer the contents of this folder from your old PC to your new PC:
My Documents\SliQInvoicing\customtemplates
For more information on backing up and restoring data, see Backups.
Moving the Customer Data set to a Different PC
If you want to share your customer data with a different user of SliQ follow these simple steps. Copying customer data to a new PC is useful if you have several salespeople chasing leads and invoicing new customers and from time to time you want to synchronise customer data amongst all your staff.
1. Export the customer data on the first PC
On the first PC, start SliQ select the Customers & Statements tab and export the customer data by pressing the Export button in the toolbar.
2. Copy the exported customer file to the second PC
Copy the file created in step 1 to the second PC.
3. Run SliQ and load the customer file copied from the first PC
Start SliQ, select the Customers & Statements tab and import the customer data file copied in step 2 by pressing the Import button in the toolbar.
Note: SliQ will MERGE the loaded customer data with the data already held in SliQ.
When SliQ imports customer data, the imported data is taken as a match for an existing customer if the customer names match. SliQ will ignore any difference in case between the names. This is shown in the following table:

1. Export the product data on the first PC
On the first PC, start SliQ select the Products & Discounts tab and export the product data by pressing the Export button in the toolbar.
2. Copy the exported product file to the second PC
Copy the file created in step 1 to the second PC.
3. Run SliQ and load the product file copied from the first PC
Start SliQ, select the Products & Discounts tab and import the product data file copied in step 2 by pressing the Import button in the toolbar.
Note: SliQ will MERGE the loaded product data with the data already held in SliQ.
When SliQ imports data, the imported data is taken as a match for an existing product or discount if the item names match. SliQ will ignore any difference in case between the names. This is shown in the following table:
